About the Senior Living Truth Series

Honest Conversations that Make a Difference

Our Mission

The Senior Living Truth Series exists because the senior living space is confusing, sales-driven, and high-stakes.

Our mission is to provide clear, unbiased education so Oklahoma City seniors and their families can make informed decisions with dignity, confidence, and peace of mind.

We believe:

  • You deserve the full picture, not just the parts that benefit someone else
  • Planning ahead is always better than reacting in crisis
  • The best decisions come from understanding your options, not from pressure tactics
  • Every family should know what programs and resources are actually available to them

We're here for those who believe in having Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C — who want to look to the future with an "I can do this" attitude instead of fear. Because when you're prepared, everything changes.

What Makes Us Different

Senior Living Truth Series is different by design. We bring together experts in housing, legal, financial, healthcare, and logistics—because no single industry has all the answers.

Senior living decisions don’t happen in isolation. By connecting these perspectives, we help you understand how choices in one area impact everything else.

We also talk about what others avoid: emotional transitions, real tradeoffs, and long-term consequences that don’t show up in brochures.

Every seminar features trusted Oklahoma City professionals—not salespeople. There’s no pitching, no pressure, and no steering toward a single solution.

We’re not here to tell you what to do. We’re here to give you the clarity to decide for yourself.

Chris Buckelew

Senior Living Truth Series was founded in 2016 by Chris and Dr. Nikki Buckelew, Ph.D., visionaries who believed seniors across the country deserved access to honest, unbiased education during life's most critical transitions.

What started as a local seminar series in Oklahoma City quickly became something bigger. Chris and Nikki saw that the need for clear, pressure-free education wasn't unique to one community - it was everywhere. Through their leadership of the Senior Real Estate Institute, they've trained passionate, senior-focused real estate professionals across the United States to bring their seminar model to their own communities, multiplying the impact and reaching thousands of families nationwide.

Their commitment has always been about more than real estate. It's been about dignity, clarity, and ensuring that seniors have the information they need to make confident decisions on their own terms.

The Buckelews' continue to serve by training real estate agents in Oklahoma City as well as in communities across the country where their model is changing lives, one informed decision at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most seminars are about 60 minutes followed by a 30 minute Q & A. We begin promptly at 10am and finish no later than 11:30am.

Please feel free to contact us concerning any questions you may have. If our event team is unable to answer your questions, we will direct you to one of our many trusted education partners or subject matter experts who can assist you.

Absolutely not. No sales pitch. No hidden agenda. You are welcome to introduce yourself to presenters, panelists, hosts, and education partners to decide for yourself if you want or need more information. The subject matter experts (panelists) and education partners are encouraged to bring new and different materials each month for you you to take home, but it’s up to you to pick them up.

Yes! We want you to get your questions answered. We do our homework, so many of your questions will likely be answered in the prepared program. If you still have unanswered questions, you will have an opportunity to ask panelists or note them on your feedback sheet. Specific questions that personal to your situation (i.e. can’t be generalized to the group) might be redirected to a panelist or education partner after the program. Our goal is to always help you find your answers or an appropriate resource!

We always welcome service providers and business owners seeking to learn. There is a $50 fee payable at the door for those attending for business development AND we have a VERY STRICT no solicitation / marketing policy. Distributing business cards, wearing branded clothing, and soliciting business from attendees or education partners is prohibited and those who violate the policy will be asked to leave immediately. No warnings and no exceptions. All attendees must check in upon arrival and provide valid contact information.

Education partners represent organizations from the private, public, and not for profit sectors, all with a passion and mission for educating, equipping, and empowering others about issues important to our audiences. We have a strict criteria for who is selected including, but not limited to time in business, reputation, and strong positive references. All education partners sign a covenant agreement that outlines specific guidelines and expectations. If you would like to learn more, feel free to reach out and we are happy to discuss the finer details in person.

We welcome anyone who believes the information would be valuable to them. If you are not a senior, but you are seeking information to advise someone who is — or maybe you are planning ahead — please join us.

Education partners donate time, money, space, expertise, and resources so that programming can continue to be offered for free for seniors and their families and guests. The contributions made by education partners does not in any way guarantee them benefits beyond attending and displaying their materials at monthly seminars or other associated programming.

Annual partnerships are from January to December. Those interested in becoming an education partner can contact our event team at 405.563.7501 to request a sponsorship packet or to be placed on the waiting list. Every sponsor must be fully vetted prior to being considered, so please provide references and licensing information (if applicable). Those recommended by a regular attendee or current educational partner are given priority in the application process.

Thank you for helping us share the program with others. You can direct people to the "Recordings" tab at the top of this webpage and let them know the replays are usually posted within about a week.

Those who are passionate about educating and who want to help support the program should talk with one of the event hosts. Some people like to provide financial contributions to offset expenses such as marketing, mailing, staffing, signage, technology, etc. Others may donate their time to help make reminder calls, distribute event materials, or serve as greeters or ushers at the monthly programs. Please note that financial contributions are NOT tax deductible at this time.

We currently offer the Senior Living Truth Series® in the Oklahoma City metro area only. There are similar programs with different names in other parts of the country including cities in Nevada, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, California, Oregon, Maryland, District of Columbia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and more are being added regularly, so just email or call us and we can direct you to those we know about.

We are often asked if these programs are being held outside our area. If you are a real estate agent or business professional passionate about serving older adults and want to give back to your community by educating, empowering, and equipping others, we recommend you contact Seniors Real Estate Institute at 512-842-6011 and inquire about their community education materials and training program.

Sometimes we benefit from hearing information multiple times – especially when it pertains to complex topics. Even when a title seems like a duplicate, it is always different due to the introduction of new panelists, diverse perspectives, and updated information. Even variations in audience questions make for a unique event. Rest assured, there is always something new to learn!

At the end of each seminar we ask attendees to fill out a feedback form. While it can be done so anonymously, we encourage people to pre-register for the next program and so you may need to put your name on the form in order for this to be processed. You can also leave comments, questions, and constructive feedback on the form. Our event team reviews the forms within 24 hours of the seminar and prioritizes the follow up based on questions, concerns, pre-registrations, etc. Once the event team has noted the feedback provided, the names and contact information is detached from the rest of the form and the feedback is provided to education partners for their review (no contact information included). This allows our entire event team to better serve attendees going forward! We appreciate ALL feedback!

Unlike many providers of community education programs for seniors, we keep your contact information and attendance confidential. The only people who have access to this information are the hosts and organizers and it is used only for purposes of keeping you in the loop regarding educational programming. Specifically this means reminder calls, texts, emails, or letters concerning events for which you register. Also, follow up calls, texts, emails, or letters and invitations to new or updated programs. Of course we do our best to only contact you in ways you request or prefer. We NEVER make your contact information available to third parties unless you expressly authorize us to do so.

The reasons you might receive communication from an education partner associated with our seminar series includes: 1) You requested to be contacted about a topic in which they are knowledgeable, 2) You indicated you wanted more information or a consultation with them on your feedback form, 3) You gave them your information directly or they have access to your information through other sources, 4) We made a referral to them based on your written or verbal request. It is our policy to make the connection between you and any outside resources, including education partners, only after verifying you are prepared for such connection.

The Senior Living Truth Series is not affiliated in any way with the school or associated school programs. Francis Tuttle is committed to community education and provides the space for use by credible and reputable educators.
